Citius, Altius, Fortius - Faster, Higher, Stronger

Citius, Altius, Fortius (faster, higher, stronger) is more than just an Olympic motto. it is a mindset, a lifestyle that can be directly applied to the very basic strategy of our R&D Team.

Faster It is a matter of fact that our projectiles fly at an incredible velocity and travel the distance between the shooter and the target within a blink of an eye. A faster projectile has less drop and a straighter trajectory. A faster projectile increases the first hit probability, which is for our shooters of great importance. Due to this, it is our daily business to work on faster ammunition.

Higher Higher and beyond existing boundaries. We, as an agile R&D Team, made some groundbreaking developments recently. The .375 Swiss P falls directly in the line of the needs of today's snipers. With our new caliber, we can transfer the maximum amount of energy over long distances with a minimum of weapon system weight. Different manufacturers use the same 6.5 Creedmore approach to fill the gap between .223 and .308. However, we will explain in this talk why our 6.5 Creedmore is capable of flying higher and farther.

Stronger Everybody knows that our ammunition is the strongest in business. However, Fortius means also braver. In R&D, we are willing to take risks daily to increase our production capabilities. We want to invest our know-how in new technologies and more modular machines capable of producing more precise cartridges and more cartridges per minute. It is also a risk to rely on new technology. But our experience shows that it is best practice in R&D to be brave.

We hope that you will understand after this talk why R&D in ammunition relies on the Olympic motto.

Value of Industrial Collaboration and Offsets in the Asian Defence and Security Market

Industrial collaboration, also known as offsets is back again! COVID 19 has clearly contributed to increased security threats and exposed vulnerability. The pandemic has caused disruption to industrial supply chains as well as a loss of jobs and lack of access to technology and increased trade barriers.

Evidence strongly suggests that governments have reacted by increasing their defence budget for military modernisation and capability building. There may be no doubt, offsets will continue to take a more central role in international defence trade. It is estimated that industrial collaboration activities amounted to around £350 billion in 2019, a third of total global defence value. Offsets, as a ‘third policy’, is used by governments to influence industrial and technological benefits to attain self-reliance and economic benefits.

Offsets is often described as distorting the market and introducing industrial protectionism, a total contradiction to free trade and competitiveness. However, as offsets is here to stay, the critical question is how to use offsets effectively to create value? This talk will discuss offsets policy trends in Asia, plus the evolution, opportunities and challenges; as well as highlight how offsets could deliver better value to customers.

Thanks to our large production facilities and the wide range of different technologies, we can prove that we are the market leader across all our locations. We are excited to present you an overview of the existing portfolio as well as our new products for the future.

Systems and Solutions feat. HS Produkt and other partners
To complete a mission successfully, not only the ammunition is of decisive importance. The weapon, optics, lasers or silencers are also crucial. Monitoring the target in any weather conditions for instance must be possible, which is where night vision sights, thermal and weapon sights that operate in the short-wave infrared range come into play. For every operation, there is a perfect solution. Tailored to their needs our customers get the best package from a single source.

Ammunition and Packaging Tests for Safety During Transport and Storage

Before our ammunition comes into use, it usually has a long transport route ahead and then goes into storage first. During transport by truck, rail or helicopter, the cartridges are exposed to external influences such as vibrations and shocks. During storage, climatic conditions such as arctic cold or tropical heat and humidity can come into play.

Our ammunition must perform perfectly and reliably at all times, even after 15 years of storage and stressful transports. To guarantee this, RUAG Ammotec carries out a wide variety of environmental and transport simulation tests, some of which are very spectacular! We will show them to you.
